Botox is the most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatment in the United States. It is a purified neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles that crease the skin when you frown, squint or raise your eyebrows. With those muscles at rest, the lines on top of them soften and new lines are less likely to form.
In experienced hands the goal is not a frozen face. A skilled injector adjusts the dose and placement so you still look like yourself — just less tired, less stressed and more refreshed. Similar products include Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and Daxxify, and your provider will recommend the one that fits your goals.
Your provider studies how your face moves, marks the treatment points and uses a very fine needle to place small amounts of product into targeted muscles. Most appointments take 15 to 20 minutes, and the discomfort is often compared to a quick pinch.
