How many units of Botox do I need for my forehead and frown lines?

Botox
Nashville, TN

Asked by Danielle, 34 · September 15, 2026

I am 34 and this would be my first time. I have light forehead lines and a deeper line between my eyebrows. I do not want to look frozen — I just want to look less tired in photos.

For a first treatment on light forehead lines plus the frown area, most patients need somewhere between 20 and 30 units in total, split between the two areas. The exact number depends on how strong your muscles are, not on your age. A good injector will start conservatively, see you again at two weeks, and add a few units if needed — that is much easier than waiting out a result that is too heavy. Expect it to last three to four months the first time, often a little longer after a few treatments.

I would add one thing: ask your provider to watch your brows while you make expressions before they mark anything. If your brows are already low, treating the forehead too heavily can make them feel heavier. Starting with the frown lines alone is a perfectly good first step.
